CASA volunteers are carefully screened before they attend volunteer training. This includes filling out an application, reference checks, checking the Child Abuse Registry, local criminal background checks and fingerprints. One of our trained staff members conducts volunteer interviews once we receive a completed application, consent form and signed job description. Initial volunteer training consists of thirty five hours of classroom training in our office with a trained staff person and a ten hour courtroom observation. Active CASA volunteers must receive an additional twelve hours of on going training.
Our next training class will begin in May 2008. The fall training class will begin in September. Training days/times depends on interest. Morning, evening and independent study training are offered by Carroll County CASA, Inc.
In Service Training Schedule: Topics will be announced at a later date. All In Service Training takes place at the CASA office at 123 Newnan St. in Carrollton. Dates may be changed to accommodate speakers. Please check back frequently for updates.
